Too Much Fun, Makes me Happy!

It has been so long since I've written a post. Can't you see it's the summer? Everything speeds up in the summer (like Christmastime), work events are in full swing. With a golf tournament to plan, it keeps me pretty busy, along with my regular work load. I do love doing it though, and the money earned goes to scholarships, which I think is the best thing out there. Why not help someone make it through college, an education is so important! Ok enough of my boring work life, I've been also having a very active (and fun) social life. Rexburg is amazing in the summertime (once it finally gets hot enough), there is so much to enjoy, and the scenery is just breathless. This weekend we had a ward party in which we played volleyball (that's all we do when we get together I swear), and had a bonfire. The best thing about that night was the most incredible lightning storm I've ever witnessed (and I've lived in Florida). There was nonstop lightning for a good hour and it spectacular. Scary, oh yes, but awe inspiring too. I tried to get pictures or videos, but it really doesn't do it justice. On Saturday it already started out so warm, so we went to a Yard Sale in which I found a BBQ for $3.00. Beautiful! Then a couple of my gal pals and I decided that we needed sun, BAD, so we ventured out to Monkey Rock. A favorite Rexburg destination of mine. The water is SO COLD, but it was refreshing after laying out. Only Ashley and Brittany were brave enough to venture out to the actual water fall. That evening we decided to go to the institute good times festival, and had some hot dogs and played volleyball (again!). It was only 7:00 but I was so tired, but Clint called, and him and Tenille came over to show us the RING! That's right, my dearest friend Clint is getting married. I do love them so, and I can't wait for September 24, 2010! Sunday, after church of course, we took a drive to Mesa Falls. Beautiful indeed. No wonder, I'm exhausted. Here are some pictures of my festivities this weekend. I can't believe it's July already, phew!

There’s a Snake in my Boot

I had a pretty good weekend. A lot of movie watching. On Friday night I went and saw Robin Hood at the cheap seats. I love me some Russell Crowe. It was actually pretty good, a little long, but still good. On Saturday we went and saw Toy Story 3D. Oh it was so precious. I just LOVED it. Pixar can do no wrong in my book. It was a bittersweet ending and of course I cried, but I just loved it. I laughed and cried, so therefore I consider a great movie.

Saturday I also got to see some of my very best friends who were also some of my favorite roommates in college. Julie and Michelle are just so beautiful and I love them so much. I wish we could hang out every weekend (although I would be a little lame, because I'm not married and do not have children). But they are just funny and refreshing. They want me to go to their family reunion during the 4th and I would just die to see them all, I love them so much! I've decided that I'm going to go and see them sometime this summer and spend good quality time with them and their spouses (who I am also good friends with, as they met them whilst living with me), and children! I'm mad I didn't get a picture either, seriously, what kind of blogger am I?

Anyway, I'm on my 30th book for this year so 20 more until I reach my goal of 50 by the end of 2010!

I'm also excited because my passport arrived on Friday, and I now can travel to wherever I like, the location is TBD!

My New Favorite Quote

I'm trying so hard to wish it was summer, where I could sit outside and read my book and get sunburnt! It's hard to believe that June is half over, what the? This past week I've been thinking a lot about the steps I've taken to get to where I am now, and how sometimes life seriously just falls into place. Furthermore, it sometimes takes patience and time for you to realize certain things and to feel comfortable and content in your decisions. I found this quote:
"I may not have gone where I intended to go, but I have ended up where I intended to be."
Douglas Adams

Perfect & beautiful I say. Time to make it into a vinyl saying (HA!)

I love Birthdays!

I had a great weekend. It was busy and fun. I'm excited for summer to finally get here (yes believe or not, here in Arctic North called Rexburg, its still spring like here). Friday night we went camping with some people of the ward, ok so we didn't stay the night, but he did the whole campfire bit. So fun! I love the campfire, the s'mores, and the good times. As for Saturday it was Ashley's birthday so it was a crazy day for Sarah and I. I did 5 loads of laundry which is CRAZY for me (I let it go way too long). Then we got our shopping list ready, we made homemade ice cream and homemade hot fudge. So good!! Then we got invited to Ashley's birthday dinner at Texas Roadhouse, so delish. We then headed back for some laser tag, and then for ice cream extravaganza. Overall, it was a great weekend, and I love Ashley and can't wait to be her roommate!

Journey and Southern Accents

Last night was the season finale of Glee. It was so good; I can't even explain how much I love that TV show. I laughed, cried, and even got Goosebumps last night. I only wish I would have been smart and creative enough to come up with a show like that. I also loved it because of Journey, I love when they sing their songs, and my dreams came true last night when they sang 3 count them 3 songs. Bliss! I also finished my book last night (City of Glass – so good), and I'm also done with a book that I've been listening to. It's called The Help. Ok so one, I'm listening to it, so the actresses reading it use southern accents, so now I think in a southern accent, and I'm pretty sure sometimes I've even said things with a southern accent and ya'll a couple of times. It's NUTS, and it just shows me how much my brain absorbs what I listen to… Anyway, this book is life changing. It's about 2 black maids and 1 white rich girl in the South during the 1960's and Civil Rights Movement. I'll give a full book report when I'm completely done with it. What is crazy is even though I've studied that time period and written papers about it, I never GOT it until now. I get it, and I know that's crazy for someone like ME to say, but this book has opened my eyes. I was listening to it at work and someone asked me (rudely) to do something for them, I almost shouted at them, I am liberated, I HAVE RIGHTS, and I don't have to do anything I don't want!!! Then I reminded myself I needed to calm down, that I am Savanna, and I live in Idaho, and its 2010… ha ha! More to come later… I promise (ya'll)!

Weekend Rambling

I really didn't have much of weekend. I was super busy, and had lots of fun. Friday night we went to the movie Letters to Juliet. It was super cute, and yes I might have cried in parts of it. Predictable, but I wasn't expecting to like it that much. I had to nanny on Saturday until 2 and then I went and picked up Mariah (oh yeah, because her and Hyrum were visiting this week, but I didn't see a whole lot of them) and let her experience Fongs. I love Fongs, it's my favorite Chinese! Then we just chilled until it was time to go to an YSA Regional Activity, it was alright, the dance was good because it had REALLY good music, but people just don't know how to dance anymore. One of my pet peeves about Mormon dances is that everyone just gets in a big circle and sort of moves to the music. It's weird; I don't know why the heck people do that, and it just makes everyone feel so awkward. Oh well, I've really come to love my ward and the people who are in it. Good wholesome people who I consider great friends! We decided to leave the dance early and rented a movie called The Young Victoria. Melissa had told me about it earlier and I really wanted to see it (especially because it's historical and because it's only PG). It was so good, I really did love it. So romantic!
Sunday was amazing per usual, and I spent most of the day catching up on a much needed 3 weeks loss of sleep and trying to get through my book. It's such a good book, but I get impatient because I want it to end up right!! It's the last of a series I've been reading and it's one of my favorites of all time I think.
Sarah and I have also decided to forego our trip back east (due to some of Sarah's life changes), instead we are going on a cruise. I'm so excited!!!! I even had to get my passport ($200 expidited of course)… I better use it more than once, that's all I'm saying!

Facebook

Don't get me wrong, I LOVE me some Facebook. I've had a profile since the early dawn of Facebook time. Recently I did a  Facebook friends cleanse.  Really, it was liberating, HA! Not really, since most of the people I deleted I didn't even know.  I have a dilemma though, recently I've been super annoyed with some people constantly status updating, and promoting their products. I can't delete them as a friend, and I feel like if I hide them I might miss out on something important. It's like a Catch-22...eek! It's crazy how much I can check Fbook in one day (I have it has an app on my phone), and it really is liberating to not check it for a few days. It gets scary because I'm afraid I will miss something (which I did, an engagement and some pictures, but whatever they were still on there when I returned). But seriously, try it out. Don't check it for a day or two (take a vacation), and it's crazy how much you miss it. Don't worry I'm not one of those Fbook haters who bashes on it the whole time but still checks it regularly to stalk people, I love it, and I'll never give it up! Here is a video that I found that I just thought was so funny, so enjoy!

Mariah Did It!

I don’t know even where to begin. My weekend was so much fun, and tiring. Memorial Day Weekend is always one of my favorites because it’s the kickoff to summer (even if this year it was rainy and less than pleasant). My little sister graduated from Parma High School, my alma mater. It really is such a great high school and an amazing town. I realized that this weekend, our little community is willing to give so much. There are a ton of pictures and not really too many stories, so I’ll let the pictures do most of the talking.

All the kids - I do love my siblings, we are CRAZY!

I love this kid, seriously he's probably the cutest thing I've ever seen!
